With a heat wave sweeping the nation and temperatures hitting 100 degrees Fahrenheit and above, it’s safe to say it’s going to be a long, hot summer. And if you’re in Miami, there’s no better place to be on a Saturday afternoon in July than at one of South Beach’s lucrative pool parties.

Last weekend, we checked in at the Fontainebleau for Electric Beach’s weekly poolside party featuring Stacie Todd, Gino G, and Johnny the Boy.

Sponsored by Corona Light, Electric Beach is known for throwing some of the best pool parties in town. Saturday was no different. When we arrived on the scene, the beautiful Stacie Todd was on the decks spinning some groovy house.

The Australian model-turned-DJ, known for her looks on the runway as well as behind the decks and her new reality tv show, had partygoers relaxed and vibing poolside until Gino G the 20 year old Cuban DJ took over with some progressive and a more mainstream sound. The energy by the pool remained chill at best—maybe it was the heat or long hours partying the night before at one of the city’s myriad venues.

Whatever the reason for the crowd’s languorous state, once DJ Mad Linx (filling in for Johnny The Boy) began throwing down his own eclectic mix of hip hop and dance, the energy skyrocketed. As much as Miami loves its EDM, maybe we just needed a little hip hop and old school to counter the heat. All we can say is the Miami local definitely made us sweat on an already sweltering afternoon.
