Top 5 Performances that Outshined the Downpour at Treasure Island Music Festival 2016
By: Tori Inez
Treasure Island, the scenic music festival set on the outskirts of the bay area in San Francisco, CA has become a fan favorite among festivals goers and performers alike. Known for its stunning views and rather intimate setting compared to other festivals, expectations were set high for this years’ rendition of the fest, which took place over the Oct.15-16 weekend and showcased an impressive lineup including Ice Cube, Sigur Ros, ZHU, Glass Animals, James Blake, and Purity Ring among others. View the complete lineup here.
Yet, the extravaganza which should’ve taken place in light of the festival’s 10th anniversary was unfortunately clouded over by torrential downpour and heavy winds, causing hour delays and the cancellation of a few acts to perform including James Blake and Duke Dumont, two of the most anticipated acts to appear on this years’ roster.
Many people were upset by the hurricane-like weather, both concert goers and festival promoters alike. Some attendees even took to social media to bash the festival or demanded refunds. Treasure Island even issued a statement early Sunday morning stating their remorse and sincerity to do anything in their power to make the second day of the festival as great as possible.
Treasure Island’s statement on Sunday morning:
Though the conditions were not the best, it didn’t stop Elektro from experiencing some exceptional performances, making Treasure Island Music Festival (TIMF) memorable for not only the obvious reasons, but for being able to still put on an amazing show through uncontrollable weather conditions. So without further ado..
