For the first time since his early-morning set on New Years Day, Danny Tenaglia returned to celebrate his birthday at Pacha for his first proper gig of 2013. He made a meager attempt to disguise his age, “Last night at Pacha was very special for my 26x2 Bday Bash!!” but the reality is, Tenaglia’s age only corroborates his legendary presence in the dance music scene, especially in New York.

Adam Braiman opened the floor with a flaming set, and Pacha was abuzz with anticipation as Rob Sperte finished his explosive set around 2am, just as Danny and his crew arrived to the booth. I knew going into this that we would be in for a loooong night. Danny said a few words before going straight in with techno, house, tribal, and the classics; a steady crazy party until 8am! The quirky and entertaining Anthony Lamont came out, as well as Vi Vacious, with their costumes and everybody on the dance floor went wild.
In a show of gratitude, Danny closed his 6-hour set with a song from 1982, “Thanks to You,” for those courteous souls who stayed until the very end.
