Gary Richards, a.k.a. Destructo, shows off his Hard Haunted Mansion all-access pass.

Being a central figure in the electronic music culture of Southern California and beyond is a role that moves at the speed of Twitter (that being very fast, for you few remaining non-Tweeters). HARD-founder Gary Richards, 40, says he’s tired. And with good reason, as a world-class promoter, the founder of the LA-based HARD Fest and a DJ who plays clubs around the world under the name Destructo, Richards has a lot to Tweet about.

He recently carved out some time with elektro to talk HARD, Holy Ship! and his dream concert lineup. Hint: it features Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Daft Punk and the Chemical Brothers, “with,” Richards says, “all of the original members.”

Richards also shared his own view on the Internet and social media’s impact on EDM with elektro: “Our scene is a global scene. Everyday I wake up and I’m on Twitter, tweeting with Boys Noize and these guys in Australia and Paris. We’re all connected. I think that all the things that killed people buying a record are fueling this fire.”
