It’s rare to find a lineup that works so perfectly together, one that ensures a mix of artists, though diverse, works together to create the kind of feel-good vibe that has the party going until the morning light. The combination of RAC, Viceroy, and Solidisco, performing at Webster Hall, was a sublime example of such a line up. The crowd had no moment to rest thanks to the fluid transition from artist to artist, each bringing their own renowned sounds while tying the night together with a bombastic night of disco, 90’s throwbacks, and unadulterated grooving.

New York natives Solidisco got the night started on the right foot, delivering the kind of opening performance that never once holds back, making it clear there’s no stopping once the beat starts. Although 2013 has been billed as the year disco came back, Solidisco are proof that it may have never left. The duo brought out amazing disco house banger after another, dropping their incredibly catchy reworks of Icona Pop’s “I Love It” and Anjulie’s “You and I”. However, the most refreshing part of their set was how much of their own 90s-esque originals found their home in their set (the crowd went nuts for “Gotta Have It”, “Never Let You” and “Feeling”), making it clear these Fool’s Gold artists have nowhere to but up.

After a solid hour and some of dancing with a Studio 54 kind of fever, Solidisco gave way for Portland’s coolest export, RAC. The master remixer and producer had the crowd eating from the palm of his hand, ferociously taking in every track he played and incessantly demanding more. RAC delivered; he played out tons of his monster remixes including Lana del Rey’s “Blue Jeans” and Phoenix’s “Trying to Be Cool” and gave us dance floor favorites like Disclosure’s “White Noise” and his own “Hollywood”. To say Webster Hall was going ballistic for this set would be a severe understatement. After an hour and half, André wrapped up his infectious set and cleared the path for Viceroy.

And then things got real. Really real. Viceroy gave the ultimate nod to 90’s feel-good music by opening up his set with Montell Jordan’s Friday night classic “This Is How We Do It." As if that weren’t amazing enough as it is, he then followed with an unbelievably (seriously, the crowd could NOT believe how hard they were dancing) discofied rework of Will Smith’s “Getting’ With It." The amazing producer/DJ’s motto (#summertimeallthetime) was chanted religiously by zealous fans across the crowd throughout his set, making for smiles and dancing between strangers joined together under the glimmering lights of disco. Going on for roughly two hours, Viceroy sealed the deal, wrapping up a night of disco house and 90’s throwbacks that had New York City rocking like it was 1978.
