Quickie with a DJ: Climbers

Scariest groupie moment? Not a groupie moment but a scary one we had recently:

We were picked up from an airport to go to a venue and on our way there, we were asleep when all of sudden we were woken up by two strange guys because they wanted to rob us, so we had to duck down while the driver sped up to get away from them as quickly as possible, and then going to the venue straight away and play, that was some scary thing.

If you could have one superhero power, what would it be?

Jay Blakk: Teletransportation for sure.
Kiko Deal: For me would be to be able to fly.

First job you ever had?

Jay Blakk: My first job was at KFC doing chicken with their secret recipe. It's still a mystery I can't divulge!
Kiko Deal: I used to sell cellphones and accessories, really not fun.

Favorite candy / snack?

Jay Blakk: Baby Ruth all the way.
Kiko Deal: Give me a can of coca cola and I will be happy as long as the caffeine lasts.

What type of wheels do you use to get around?

Jay Blakk: Delorean that can travel time and space.
Kiko: Batmobile so I can keep a watch on the city.

Kind of watch do you wear?

Jay Blakk: Cellphone
Kiko Deal: Don’t use

Favorite Sneakers?

Jay Blakk: Classic Vans in different colors
Kiko Deal: White Vans.

If you had one night left to live, how would you spend it?

Jay Blakk: Just having fun with friends and family, chilling and the night would be so crazy with loads of eh, fun.
Kiko Deal: I think the same but will lots and lots of girls.

What song do you sing in the shower?

Jay Blakk: Three Little Birds by Bob Marley.
Kiko Deal: Karma Chameleonby Culture Club.

Jay Blakk: Saint Seiya
Kiko Deal: Tennage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Jay Blakk: I think Mario Kart on Super Nintendo and FIFA.

First DJ you ever saw live?

Jay Blakk: Infected Mushroom.
Kiko Deal: Same ;)

Most embarrassing performance moment?

Jay Blakk: When I started DJing, I was in the middle of a set and was so excited that I didn’t notice the plug for the power was behind me so I stepped on the plug and the mixer shut down.
Kiko Deal: One time when I was playing, I was so drunk I accidentally poured my drink on the other DJ's cds, I was so embarrassed.

Kiko Deal: Use your Illusion 1 by Guns and Roses

Ever been star struck? By who?

Jay Blakk: Yes, one time I saw Derrick May play in our hometown and he played so superb that when I got to meet him and saw what an incredible person he was I was really amazed by that.
Kiko Deal: Well, actually its funny because I haven’t been starstruck until now here in the UK, because we just landed from Mexico to London and when I was entering the country I saw Lana del Rey passing by and got to take a photo with her. I was so impressed not just because of the looks but how down to earth this girl is, so impressive.

Favorite TV show?

Jay Blakk: Mad TV all the way but right now I love Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead and Wilfred.
Kiko Deal: The Prince of Bel Air is so awesome but now I don’t watch tv anymore.

What’s on your computer wallpaper?

Jay Blakk: 33 ways to stay Creative.
Kiko Deal: It’s always a model and right now its Lana Del Rey, haha.

What’s the best advice you ever got? From who?

Jay Blakk: One was from my mother. Stay true to who I am and always act as you want to be treated by others, and for my career Philipp from M.A.N.D.Y. When I was just starting I saw him playing a gig 5 years ago and he just told me to stay focused and work with passion, love and respect for what I do and everything will come together. I will never forget that.
Kiko Deal: From one of my ex bosses, he told me that when you want something its not enough just to do it, you have to look like you made it already.

Celebrity crush?

Jay Blakk: For me used to be Elizabeth Hurley and now its Anne Hathaway.
Kiko Deal: Use to be Elisha Cuthbert but now its Lana del Rey.

Favorite piece of DJ equipment? Why?

Jay Blakk: I really like the 2000 cdjs feels right and im a very visual person.
Kiko Deal: For me I really like the 800 DJM from pioneer.
