As EDM continues to rise in popularity, DJs in the industry have started to differentiate their live acts in different manners – Swedish House Mafia’s laser show spectacular, Aoki’s champagne and rafting excursions through the crowd, David Guetta’s obligatory speeches.

Not too often do you see DJs incorporating live musical performances into their sets, notwithstanding vocalists. Partial reasoning probably has to do with less room for error when the music isn’t computerized. Nevertheless, there are a handful of artists raising the bar by incorporating live music and showcasing their ability to blend machine and man. Artists worth checking out include PillowTalk (a fast rising SF-based trio who were a standout at WMC) and Maceo Plax, whose brings future funk sound to his live sets.

Who do you think they left off?
