Elektro’s Exclusive Quickie with a DJ (Special Sibling Edition): Kid Sister and Flosstradamus

Led by the Kid Sister collab “Luuk Out Gurl” and the XXX-rated Danny Brown collab “From The Back,” Jubilation is a true showcase for Flosstradamus’ club-honed studio skills. It’s also a testament to their willingness to experiment; “Lyke My Style” and “Ov3r” drag those same rap vocals into funhouse mirror territory, chopping and screwing them atop unexpectedly moody synth lines and an ever-present 808 kick.

In honor of all these hot collaborations we decided to do some collaborating over our own. After all, Kid Sister and Josh Young (one-half of the duo, Flosstradamus) are real-life bro and sis! And as it turns out, they both love partying with the exact same people-- music isn't isn't the only thing they agree on!

Kid Sister:

Favorite drink? Alcohol / Virgin? Depends on my mood. Usually I'm a vodka soda girl but sometimes I just want a dumb "girly" drink like a triple chocolate kiss twist swiss miss martini.

Scariest groupie moment? The dude in Vancouver who followed our car from the venue to a friend’s show across town and live tweeted it. And the other dude the night before (same city) who pretended he was a friend of my local DJ friends and told me, "I know everything about you" then proceeded to recite my wiki page. DEAR SWEET BABY JESUS, STOP IT!

If you could have one superhero power, what would it be? To be invisible, because sometimes I just want out.

What DJ do you want to:
Hug? Mehdi. I miss him so much. Also, Cosmo Baker, because he's a really good friend.
Party with? That would be Cosmo Baker again. He's so much fun.
DJ alongside live? My brother [Flosstradamus’ Josh Young] because he's the only one who
has the patience to teach me beat matching.

First job you ever had? Slicing headcheese and beef tongue at a Polish deli with no air conditioning... in JUNE.

What is it like to collaborate with your brother? It’s fun and challenging.

Flosstradamus (comprised of J2K aka Josh Young and Autobot aka Curt Cameruci):

Favorite Drink? Alcohol / Virgin? Curt's is Whisky and Ginger because he's an old soul, and mine is any of the seasonal Abita wheat beers because they're delicious!

Scariest groupie moment? Haven't had a scary moment really but once a girl asked Curt and I if we were brothers. I'm black and he's white... it would be like asking if Dan Aykroyd and Eddie Murphy were brothers. Actually, that was kind of scary now that I think of it.

If you could have one superhero power, what would it be? I’d love to be able to fly. How awesome would it be to go from casually walking down the street to flying through space in 10 seconds?

What DJ do you want to:
Hug? Deadmau5. Dude seems so angry. He needs some love.
Party with? Cosmo Baker. That dude is a one man party machine!
DJ alongside live? DJ Ghost. Those hard-style parties look fucking insane!

First job you ever had? Mowing lawns around the neighborhood. $20 a yard split with my best friend. We made a killing that summer.

Josh, what is it like to collaborate with your sister? Really fun! Whether it's playing shows or working in the studio, we both have a lot of respect for each other. It's always a great experience to be creative, and even better to share that experience with your family!
