As a child raised on disco and old Chicago/New York house, this album really hit home for me. That classic, funky-fresh vibe gets a modern facelift in this collection of feel-good music at its finest. It isn't what Beatport would classify as Nu-Disco - this is first-class house - pure, upbeat, and danceable - from the days when people got down instead of going hard. "Out of Nowhere" sets the tone of the album with its clean, ultra-chic groove, while "House All Night" brings a Daft-Punk sound with breathy vocals that command you to "rock your body." The vocals and synths in "American Girls" is a little more old school until that first big beat drops and then it turns into hip-shaking bass-driven mover. Hints of tech house and techno shine through in "Ghost," adding a darker twist to the collection that'll definitely add a element of sexy to the night, while the quick-following "Whore's Play" takes us into an even darker, more sensual sound with Spanish guitars. A couple tracks later, "Nasty Night Out" starts bringing us back into the light with edgy saxophones and killer beats before we surface back into that runway-chic French-electronic vibe with "Reckless Gurl." Overall, this is a compilation that will speak to the souls of a generation that witnessed the birth of house while also providing a new and funky-fresh musical educations to more recent fans of electronic dance music. Don't stop dancing, ladies and gentlemen!
