Between the Beats with The Martinez Brothers

Resident Advisor followed the underground princes, The Martinez Brothers, this summer, giving us a tiny glimpse into the DJs’ fast-paced lifestyle and constant travel demands. More importantly, the brother-duo place an emphasis on their humble beginnings in the Bronx and remind of something we all pretty much already know: being a DJ is awesome. The fifteen-minute clip shows Chris and Steve travel from their gigs in New York, the UK, Chicago and the mythical island that is Ibiza. We’re told childhood stories of tough hoods, music-shaping church tours, and the limitless nature of their pursuit for greatness as baby-faced teenagers. Now six years after blowing up, the 21- and 25-year-old brothers are still as family-oriented as ever, never forgetting to thank their parents and each other for the unwavering support that has gotten them to where they are today.
