Many of today’s DJs have gone from underground to celebrity status by obtaining the ultimate gig: a chance to open and go on tour with a mainstream artist. Such examples include David Guetta with Usher and Fedde Le Grand with Coldplay.

Now, 22-year-old Deutsch DJ/producer Zedd will get his big break... an opportunity to work with pop icon Lady Gaga.

“I introduced them in London at a Beats event,” Interscope A&R representative Dave Rene says, “I said, ‘Gaga, I want you to meet Zedd.’ She just reached her arm out and touched him and said, ‘Let’s work together.’”

It is no secret that Gaga has the golden touch, making famous once obscure names such as Nicola Formichetti (Gaga’s stylist who is now creative director for French fashion house MUGLER) and Rick Genest, a.k.a. Zombie Boy, who appeared in Gaga’s “Born This Way“ music video and was made an international sensation ever since.

So, what great things lie ahead for Zedd now that he’s paired up with the original “fame monster?” While the Interscope team hasn’t revealed the exact nature of Zedd’s work for Gaga, the two artists are currently in active contact.

Gaga is known to be working on a follow-up to last year’s chart-topping Born This Way album, and she’s tapped the young DJ to serve as direct support for her upcoming 16-date tour of Asia, which begins April 27 in Seoul’s Olympic Stadium.

“People start to think because they’re making dance music and putting out records that they’re record producers, but they’re not,” Rene says. “Making a dance track versus making an actual song is a whole different beast. [Zedd] was never saying, ‘I’m already that.’ He said, ‘That’s what I want, and what I can be.’”
