replica of the first programmable drum machine
The Roland TR-808 Rhythm Composer was one of the first programmable drum machines, produced in the early 1980s. It became an important part of hip hop music to produce a bass drum sound with low frequency - users of the TR-808 are a whos-who of early hip-hop (Beastie Boys, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Dr. Dre, 2 Live Crew) and electronic music acts (Bassnectar, Orbital, Kraftwerk). The MR-808, created by German musician Moritz Simon Geist, uses nine actual instruments in a 10-foot replica to emulate the iconic device.
