MGMT has come a long way since their debut album released in 2007 featuring the hit tracks 'Electric Feel' and 'Kids' Their new self-titled album shows how the band has evolved musically over the years all the while staying true to their psychedelic sound scapes. It isn't hard to see why this band has had continued success with there unique sound featuring numerous synthesizers and intricate drum beats to take listeners on a journey through the progression of rock music.
Each track on this new album has its own identity with layers of instrumental sounds weaved together to form a cohesive melody of psychedelic rock music. The expert percussion skills that the band possesses is displayed throughout the album specifically on tracks 'Mystery Disease' and 'Plenty Of Girls In The Sea' where sophisticated drum beats stand out. Also, what has always been a staple in the MGMT repertoire are their expert keyboard and synthesizer skills that construct the individual atmosphere of each track. The third track on the album titled 'Introspection' seems to take influence from early work done by the classic rock band The Who but with a futuristic spin on that style of music. Having been three years since their last full length album the anticipation for this release has been building ever since the release date announcement.
The album is available on September 17th but fans can stream the entire album for free over at the Rdio.com website.
