Producers Pleasurekraft and Format B have proven themselves quite a match made in heaven, first through Format B’s hit remix of Pleasurekraft’s “Skeleton Key,” and now with “Coltrane.” Rooted in house yet fueled by a high-octane bass drive, “Coltrane” carries a rough-around-the-edges no-nonsense edge that balances beautifully against horns and hip-hop influenced rythms. On the other side of the vinyl we have “Sexus,” a dark and sexy bass-heavy shaker, rife with splice-y stripped back vocals and a thick, meandering rhythm.
