In June of 2009, the Fillmore opened its doors in uptown Charlotte, North Carolina. Modeled after the famed Fillmore of San Francisco, the Fillmore Charlotte is housed in a historic textile mill made of brick, stained redwood floors and exposed steel structuring. As a partner of Live Nation, the Fillmore has served as host to hundreds of live artists and performers over the years, including DJs like Pendulum, Datsik, Excision and most recently, Krewella.

Krewella began their set late into last Friday night in front of a sold out crowd at 12:30am. As the lights began to smoothly dim, the crowd become increasingly loud as they began to realize that the main act was about to begin. The darkness was then broken with a single beam of brilliant blue light, which then grew into a plane spread horizontally across the crowd. Suddenly a massive flood of light filled the room and “Killin’ It” exploded from the speakers surrounding the crowd. The crowd jumped in rhythm with the music waving posters, flags and whatever else they could as they expressed their excitement to see Krewella in person.

Their excitement was entirely justified as Krewella played a range of classic originals dotted with clever remixes to keep the crowd engaged. After a full night of seamlessly stringing together a diverse range of quality sound, Krewella concluded the concert with a bang. During the first drop of the final song, “Alive," the crowd was showered in confetti with every concert light in the venue flashing in tune with the music. Though the moment was temporary, the memory is something that the crowd will remember for a lifetime.
