iHome presents IDentity Festival Bristow, New York and Philadelphia Review
Identity Festival touched down in three major Northeast cities, hitting Bristow, Long Island and Philadelphia all back-to-back. Here's a recap of wild weekend.
On Friday in Bristow, Identity packed out the Jiffy Lube Arena. The Eye delivered a massive set to the already bumping iHome main stage in the early afternoon, while fans at the Rockstar stage were treated to the sounds of Le Castle Vania and JDevil. Throughout the afternoon fans migrated back and forth between the two areas of the venue, as well as the local Glow stage, which hosted DC-area talent.
Despite some early-afternoon drizzle, Showtek played an extra-long set under a double rainbow to a resolutely excited crowd at the Rockstar Stage. While Arty and Madeon hit the iHome stage, Datsik stopped by for a one-night stand with ID; the Identity veteran delivered a heavy dubstep set featuring many of his recent productions. Following Datsik, his buddy Excsion hit the stage for some more deep bass music. Back at the iHome stage, Eric Prydz served up a spectacular show as always, playing another set of 100% original production to a huge audience.
Next up was New York for a day the legendary Nikon Theater at Jones Beach. From early in the day, this gigantic amphitheater was packed to the rafters. Long Island local and up-and-comer Paige joined the standard acts at the iHome Main Stage. Notably,
Showtek made their Main Stage debut at Jones Beach; with their famous energy and hard-hitting production, it was definitely one of the day's highlights. Over on the Rockstar Stage, The Glaslamp Killer made his one performance on ID a memorable one, bringing some serious noise. As the sun set on the thousands of fans in attendance, Eric Prydz took to the iHome stage for a special two hour set (about double his usual time) to deliver a more thorough showcase of his work. He did not disappoint, bringing fans on a journey through his production, from classics like "Pjanoo" to new, never-before-heard tracks. Eric closed out his set to fervent chants of "One more song."
The following day, Identity hit Penn's Landing in Philly to close out the weekend. The stages were set up side by side, and were given back-to-back set times to eliminate overlapping performances. ID resident Stephan Jacobs opened up the day with a completely original set featuring his own dubstep productions. Following suit, Audrey Napoleon delivered a hard set to the growing audience and The Eye greeted his audience with some serious swag on the mic, keeping everyone engaged. Noisa took to the Rockstar stage soon after; they rocked out with a true-to-their-name set of fantastic London dubstep sound.
Soon afterwards fans migrated back to the iHome stage to watch Arty at work. One of the more notable moments of the day was a massive crowd singing along to Arty's remix to Zedd's summer banger "Spectrum." Showtek followed on the Rockstar stage, with the same energy from the day before in New York. Launch-Pad-Rockstar, Madeon adorned the iHome stage next, providing his edgy, disco-esq, progressive house sound to a sea of people. Closing his set with the live mashup known as "Pop culture," the french superstar left the crowd ready for the next act. Excision, atop his massive X closed out the Rockstar Stage with an incredibly power-packed set. Needless to say, Excisions highly stimulating production was a perfect accompaniment to the musical euphoria provided by his set. Eric Prydz then took to the iHome stage for another well mixed set of his original productions. The crowd was taken on an elaborate journey through Pryda's work, to which he left the stage to thunderous applause.
