Two weeks ago, if you had said the name, "Jimmy Carris" to me, I would have given you the old NYC-native-specific half-smile and rolled my eyes (mentally, of course). That said, I still skeptically went to check out the 21-year-old DJ from Amsterdam when he headlined LAVO NY last weekend at the persistence of elektro head honcho (and alway on the money), Zev Norotsky.

As it turns out, "mental" was the operative word (European term meaning: "crazily awesome" to us Yankees), for the experience that evening. An inimitable term to describe the myriad sounds produced by Jimmy Carris, as well as the way in which partygoers reacted to his live show, "mental" was what Jimmy served up!

My Plan Was: Stay 20 minutes and get home early to catch up on the past few episodes of "Boardwalk Empire."

What Happened Was: Three hours of uncanny remixes featuring Deadmau5, Swedish House Mafia, Avicii, Daft Punk, Oasis and a glorious homage to the Shelter-days classic, "Stardust," emanting from the speakers and reverberating right through the crowd's minds and bodies. I'm still not sure they even knew what hit them-- but one thing is certain, they knew "it" - whatever "it" was, was special. Jimmy kept rolling out the audile awesomness, making it impossible for me to leave. I simply couldn't miss out on what he might do next. Even the most finely tuned ears in EDM had to listen carefully to pick up his unique and catchy spins on both the old school and the new. Needless to say, I danced until my feet ached, and now I'm three episodes behind on "Boardwalk." Was it worth it? If you need me to answer this quetion for you, please go back a few sentences (and don't skim this time!) to figure it out.

The Lesson Was: A dazzling live DJ show can make even the quacking music quibblers, the sonic snobbery-infused scoffers and the caviler EDM egoists, morph into a happy, bouncing group of children at play.

It is due to the lesson I learned the night I first witnessed Jimmy Carris, that ElektroDaily.com proudly introduces this never-before-seen video of the latest EDM-star-on-the-rise.

Look out for our exclusive interview with Jimmy Carris in the premiere issue of elektro, out February 2012!
