EDM Hot Haunts: NYE 2012 Chicago

The windy city will get rowdy on December 31 as a cavalcade of DJs take over Chi-town, from Wicker Park to the Loop and beyond. These are our picks for NYE 2012 in Chicago.

Rusko @ The Congress Theatre
The Mad Decent pretty boy will drop the dub at the elegant Congress Theatre  for a two night run that will conclude in the early morning hours of New Year’s Day. The white hot lineup also includes Sinden and Switch.

Nikki New Year’s Eve @ Nikki VIP
The NYE party at Nikki’s will feature six as yet unannounced DJs who will keep the thousand or so revelers in attendance dancing until the party shuts down at dawn.

Smart Bar NYE @ Smart Bar
The New Year’s lineup at Chicago dance destination Smart Bar features an array of top shelf talent including Danny Howells, Justin Long, Nate Manic and Ari Frank.

The Hood Internet @ Lincoln Hall
Mashup masters The Hood Internet play Lincoln Hall for a monster dance party that’s not far from selling out. Get yours now.

The Coop @ Portage Theater
Chicago’s on the rise electro jam trio The Coop present an evening of dub-based sonic pleasure at the Portage Theater.

Big Gigantic @ The Vic Theater
Big Gigantic (named for, we’re assuming, the size of the beats they drop), play the Vic Theatre for an NYE party that will surely be just as massive.

NYE @ The Mid
The party at The Mid will rage until five in the morning and includes champagne, a snack buffet (score!). The night’s lineup has not yet been announced, but the club regularly hosts names like Bonobo, Fedde Le Grand and Claude VonStroke, so we’re betting that the night’s entertainment will be equally top tier.

Playboy NYE @ the Hilton Chicago
Playboy’s official NYE party in Chicago will see 4,000+ party goers getting down to performers including Eva Simons (if you’ve been to a club in the past year, you’ve definitely danced to her jam “Take Over Control”). There will be an open bar, a champagne toast at midnight, and, we’re guessing, an impressive amount of cleavage. More information available at newyears12.com/Chicago.

NYE @ The Palmer House Hilton
This major NYE event, presented by Yelp and the Chicago Sun Times, will take over downtown Chicago’s elegant and iconic Palmer House. The lineup is still under wraps, but organizers promise “celebrity DJs” and guarantee a confetti storm.
