SoundHound, a mobile app aiming to revolutionize music recognition, has passed more than 100 million downloads after re-branding itself in January 2010 (with 2 million downloads then) and honing its proprietary technology. The app has gotten rave reviews from various media outlets, in addition to users. The firm claims to have created a technology, Sound2Sound, which enables recognition of sound inputs in music, speed, and text by matching sound features against a database derived from searchable content. A new feature - LiveLyrics - was launched last year, which expands the technology into the exploration of lyrics.
