EDM and hip-hop have increasingly started to accept each other, primarily via the mainstream introduction of the danceable electro beat into hip-hop and R&B (Calvin Harris and David Guetta have probably been leading this march). Other artists have strived for a more eclectic approach during their sets – Crookers, Jaguar Skills, 12th Planet – come to mind. Then there’s Sinjin Hawke, who layers hip-hop with smooth futuristic, yet at times dissonant electronic sounds that blend to make for refreshing, innovative re-imaginings.
