New Recruit: KOAN Sound
The duo known as KOAN Sound is comprised of two 20-year-old Brits, named Will Weeks and Jim Bastow. The differing influences in music genres seeps into most of the young lads' tracks. Their influences range from The Prodigy and Amon Tobin, to Noisia. For being so young, this pair has one fine-tuned set of ears for mixing-- make that two sets of ears. All the better to hear the bass with!
On November 1, 2011, KOAN Sound released the EP 'Funk Blaster' on Skrillex's label OWSLA exclusively on Beatport. The EP is a melting pot of music genres, from the early days of hip-hop, glitch, and IDM, as well as Dubstep. In an EDM world that can at times feel over-saturated with random music, KOAN Sound can stand alone with this stellar EP. The future is bright for these two. I look forward to seeing them at the major festivals in 2012. Currently they are number 1 on Beatport's top 5 releases of the week.
