I love the spectacle of EDM as much as the thousands of people dancing wildly along side of me at any particular concert do, but take away the lights, the stage and the crowd and you’re basically left with a guy turning knobs and pressing buttons, which is an also fascinating, if more subtle, show to behold. This stripped down video of London’s Gold Panda manning his decks gives an intimate glimpse into the basics of track composition, and yes, those are frogs that you hear during the first thirty seconds.

Shot in kaleidoscopic style, (and featuring abundant hand close ups), Panda’s production of ‘You’ starts out deconstructed and builds (note the beat drop at 2:07) to a thunderous multi-layered electro dream that you can’t help but nod your head to. Points to anyone who can figure out what his t-shirt says.
