Bang & Olufsen is a Danish firm specializing in high-end audio (and visual) products with the goal of ‘honest music reproduction.’ The study of sound perception plays an important role in the design and testing of their products. The firm’s latest offering is a wireless receiver that offers connectivity to smartphones, tablets, media servers, or PCs. The device itself looks like a smoke alarm and comes with a $425 price tag, and is compatible with a set of B&O speakers. Audiophiles can bundle the Playmaker with the firm’s renowned BeoLab speakers for $4,310. Keep in mind the firm is a high-end audio maker well-respected in their respective bracket. B&O's sound systems are a common feature in a wide range of Audi vehicles.
