Opening for big names such as Pretty Lights, STS9, and Glitch Mob, Gramatik is no newbie in the EDM world. He’s toured the country and has gained popularity from Boston to Beijing. Now on his current tour, he no longer stands in the background, but rather runs the show alongside pal and fellow DJ Michal Menert.

The duo has decided to team up and co-headline their show, “No Egos, No Tomatoes.” I know what you may be thinking… why egos and tomatoes? Gramatik tells ElektroDaily.com, “we don’t like big egos and we hate tomatoes even more.” Neither Gramatik nor Michal is the headliner any such night, but rather, the two decided to switch it up and keep things interesting by entertaining the stage in short intervals and then coming together for a final set.

Their main goal? Gramatik says they are, “trying to expose [their] music to as many people as possible and hopefully they will come and see us again.”

And after their hot performance Thursday night at the Paradise Rock Club in Boston, I think it’s safe to say the audience (me especially) is eager to see what the rest of their tour has to offer.

As the lights dimmed and beams of green, blue, and red illuminated the crowd, arms were raised in the air, and cheers escaped the mouths of the excited audience. The fans fell prisoner of the sounds blaring in the crowded room . As the sounds traveled from the turntable to the speakers, and made their way into the pulsing bodies, the crowd began to dance to Gramatik and Michal’s heartbeat.

They took over the Paradise and set the stage for a great tour ahead.
