Avicii Releases Remix of Nina Simone’s ‘Feeling Good’
Nina Simone's classic hit "Feeling Good" has already received a reworking from Bassnectar, who as you might have expected, transformed the song into a crunchy, head-banging rendition that still remains true to its familiar memory — featured on the 2013 remix compilation Verve Remixed: The First Ladies. Now, the track has been given new life once again from superstar DJ-producer Avicii.
This remix comes as part of a new marketing partnership with Swedish car manufacturer, Volvo — a campaign titled "A New Beginning." Volvo's Senior VP of Sales & Marketing, Alain Visser talks about the partnership, saying, “the Volvo Cars brand is on the ascendant, just as Avicii is, with a growing global audience. We thought there would be no better way to celebrate our heritage and passion for life than to work together to produce something special that reflects who we are and what matters to us.”
Now, the Avicii remix of "Feeling Good" is now available for stream on Spotify. Avicii once again teams up with Audra Mae, whose vocals you will recognize from his single "Addicted To You," featured on his 2013 album True. Her haunting vocals combine with the powerful piano progressions and mellow brass section of the remix. The remix does supply a different feel than the typical dance-y sound we've come to expect from Avicii. However, it still provides the kind of infectious melody that define his tracks.
Avicii talks about the making of the “I’ve loved the song for a long time. It’s one of the best songs ever written. It’s just timeless to me. I’ve been a big fan of Nina Simone, Etta James and that kind of sound for a very long time. So when I found out that was the song that Volvo Cars wanted in the music video I was really excited and happy to do something with it. I wanted to create something new, and at the same time stay true to the original.”
