After an incredible 2012, Skrillex has already started off 2013 with a bang. Last night, he released his video for "Summit" with Ellie Goulding, which he quickly followed by releasing a surprise EP today. This new release, the EP titled "Leaving," was made available to members of OWSLA's service, The Nest. This three-track release is a collection of songs that Skrillex says "came together last minute," and has now made available for download exclusively for members of The Nest. This release sees Skrillex pushing the boundaries of his sound, exploring a variety of progressive, dubstep, and trap sounds. Skrillex explains, "I made 'Leaving' in my hotel room in Mexico and just finished 'The Reason' an hour ago in my hotel room in Miami.  I guess it’s just kind of a reflection of how I’m feeling right now." Whereas these two tracks present a lighter side of Skrillex, "Scary Bolly Dub" brings a reggae-infused dubstep sound (similar to "Make It Bun Dem"), as he reworks his own track, "Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites," to create this new dubstep banger. These original "DJ tools" utilized by Skrillex make up an EP that is a must-have for EDM fans. Check out Skrillex's "Leaving" EP above, as well as the EP's tracklist below.
