As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

SP: My dad has been a huge Billy Joel fan as far back as I can remember. I use to listen to his albums in the shower and sing them as if they were my songs. When I was in preschool, my teacher asked us all what we wanted to be when we grew up… so naturally I replied, "I want to be a Billy Joel!"

What was your first job?

SP: I use to spend my summers in the field mixing concrete for construction projects, as well as film for a Hawaii fishing series on Outdoor Life Network. I'd basically just drink with the captains and trade funny college stories.

What was the first album you bought?

SP: Shaggy - Boombastic. I'll never forget. Convinced my mom to drive me to the record store and kept it in my boom box on repeat. Mista lovah lovah…. ooooh girl

Who was the first DJ you saw live? Where? When?

SP: My first experience was at Hard Haunted Mansion LA in 2008. I remember seeing Crystal Castles, Simian Mobile Disco, and Deadmau5 and having my mind blown. I was hooked after that.

What would you be doing if you weren't DJing and producing?

Probably living in San Diego. Spending my days surfing, my nights jamming guitar and having sing alongs with close friends.

What is one thing you can't travel without?

SP: My neck pillow. I traveled for years without one… waking myself up every 5 minutes as my head fell into my chest. Honestly I have about 5 or 6. As crucial as it is, I seem to leave it at home more often than not, and end up buying a new one!

What is your favorite item of clothing that you own?

SP: My "Champagne Is The New Confetti" T-shirt that we made a while back. They're so soft and light, its the perfect shirt to travel/work out in. Unfortunately we only did a limited run so whoever got lucky enough to keep one isn't giving it up!

If you could meet one person, dead or alive, who would it be and why?

SP: Brandon Boyd. He is my favorite musician and an amazing human being. The way his mind works is fascinating, he seems to understand the universe in a way that you could only describe as enlightened. I would love to go for a surf with that dude.

If you could put together a DJ Supergroup, who would be in it?

SP: Easy. Calvin Harris, Krewella, and Nervo. Calvin could produce all the hits and handle the DJ sets, and Rain Man and I could focus on the important stuff like partying with Yasmin, Jahan, Liv, and Mim :)

If you had to eat one food/dish for the rest of your life, what would you eat?

SP: Thai coconuts.

What DJ do you want to: Hug? Party With? DJ alongside live?

SP: I'd hug Carl Cox. He's a big teddy bear.

I'd party with Bombs Away. Aussies are next level.

I'd be down for a B2B set with Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike. Now that would get crazy.
