Quickie with a DJ: Divided by Zero

Where are you from? I am from a small village near Leicester, UK.

When did you start producing and what inspired you? I started making electronic music about 4 years ago after hearing Pendulum for the first time. I only started with Divided By Zero and making Dubstep about a year ago when I heard Boy Kid Cloud – WAR for the first time.

There are too many inspirations to list but my main inspirations now are:
Knife Party
Skrillex
Koan Sound
Boy Kid Cloud
+ a whole load of rock/metal music

What’s your current studio set up? Either a 13” Macbook or a 21” IMAC depending on if I’m home or not. Running Logic Pro 9 with a load of AU plug-in’s such as MASSIVE, SYLENTH, to name a few. An M-Audio Fast Track Ultra for recording guitars, drums, vocals ECT. A pair of shitty Samson 3” monitors (Am getting some KRK rokit 5’s within the next week or so) And a M-Audio Axiom 25 Midi Keyboard.

Who were your musical influences growing up? Way to many to list here’s a few Blink 182, Green Day, Sum 41, Good Charlotte.

Favorite CD/Song of all time? Why? Pendulum – Immersion. Cannot fault it. Best song is Encoder. Just listen to the last half of the song and you will understand.

First album you bought? First physical CD I bought was Green Day – American Idiot, A few days after it came out.

How would you describe your style? Don’t know really, I would say just heavy electronic music but I try to make good overall songs not just the filthiest thing I can.

DJ alongside live? Knife Party, needs no explanation really.
