Canadian duo Zeds Dead has quickly skyrocketed to stardom with their mental dubstep productions, including their career launching hit with their remix of Blue Foundation’s “Eyes on Fire.” Their Pulp Fiction referencing moniker has quickly became one of the most recognized in EDM, and the dynamic duo are now back with their Living Dead EP.

Living Dead lets on to their deep rooted hip hop influences with all of the tracks featuring the verses of their go-to MC, Omar LinX. Beginning with some guitar influences, the track quickly ascends into a high frequency wobble effects after LinX spits some hard hitting verses. After a synth build up, the tune goes is for a second drop, this one really blowing holes in subwoofers everywhere.

“Take a Chance” digs deeps into the depths of dubstep, with some vintage sounding Zeds Dead. Grating bass organized in a melodic fashion, leaves a melancholy tone that leaves you wanting more. Things get eerie with the title track “The Living Dead’ beginning with a haunting echo and some truly sinister sounding synths, then things get really filthy when the grainy bass drops bombs onto the tune. LinX’s gruff voice adds perfectly to the unsettling track, displaying why these three are an unstoppable collaboration.
“Cowboys” surprises with an inspiring guitar riff lead that drops off into screeching bass and jumps back into the amazing guitar sounds. Living Dead is a proper example of how to stay relevant in an exponentially growing genre. Zeds Dead’s EP is now available on Beatport.
