Exclusive Interview with Sebjak

How long were you producing and DJing before getting recognized by some of Dance Music's tastemakers?

I started producing in 2006 and it took me 4 years before I released my first track but in 2009 I remixed the track "Bang The Drum" with AN21 (Steve Angello's Brother). This got me recognition from some bigger names like Erick Morillo, who contacted me after I produced "Fallin'" with Richard Grey (released on Subliminal in 2011); who was his partner in crime back then.

Please share some of the highlights of your journey so far.

In the beginning it was working with Erick Morillo and beginning to play out, at places like the Hotel Arcadia in Stockholm, then my remix for Falling Like Angels by CLMD was definitely a highlight. And now I just signed an album deal with Ultra Records, which is great because they're very supportive. A track from my upcoming album called "Into the Wild" is currently being circulated among the DJ circuit.

If you had to pick one track to represent your sound, which would it be?

Definitely "Liceu" which I produced with Marcus Schossow, I play it in all my sets.

How did you come into contact with Steve Angello?

Even though we have some mutual friends it still took me about 3 years to properly meet Steve since he was always on tour, playing 300 shows a year. All of us in the local scene, spinning deep and tech house at the time, looked up to Steve, but we knew reaching that level would take quite some time.

If you could give yourself some advice at the beginning, what would it be?

Honestly, nothing. I realize there's no shortcuts, you have to put in your 10,000 hours to achieve any tangible results and I wouldn't have it any other way.
