On a day where countless couples were buying each other expensive heart-shaped candies and feeling the mushy Hallmark holiday cheer, I decided to drive over 700 kilometers to see someone that I had yet to meet, for reasons that had nothing to do with romance. In the year and a half or so that I've known of Crizzly and his production talents, I have painfully sat here in Canada and watched him pillage the American Dubstep world from coast to coast without having a chance to partake in the madness myself. So, the moment I got a text from him saying that he was accompanying 12th Planet on the Canadian leg of his tour, I rushed to make the necessary arrangements and packed my car for Montreal.

After about seven hours of driving, my car slowed to a halt outside Le Belmont (the evening's venue), and as I stepped inside, Crizzly was already on the decks getting the place warmed up. The dance floor was decently saturated by that point, but after the 50 minute crunkathon that Mr. Marshall laid down before passing the headphones off to Flinch, the crowd had simmered to a hard boil and the air was getting stickier by the second. From there, Chris and I retreated back to the tour bus for a quick breather, and in the process I was able to get a quick interview out of him, which went something like this:

Favorite drink? Sparkle Shaved Ice from my hometown of Boerne Texas, which is different from a snow cone, as a snow cone is just ice cubes with flavour on top whereas shaved ice has the flavour hidden inside.

Scariest groupie moment? I'm not sure, probably just when there's groupies and they're not drunk. I mean it's good to be drunk and excited, but when your on stage next to thousands and thousands of dollars in expensive equipment with liquid in your hand...it's just not good.

If you could have one superhero power, what would it be? My friends and I had this discussion a while back, and time control would definitely be my number one. Also I want to fly and have a chest that contains anything you wish for.

What DJ do you want to:

Hug? I'd give Bare a bear hug

Party With? Porter Robinson, he's around my age and seems like a good party candidate.

DJ Alongside Live? 12th Planet.

First job you ever had? Well it's the same as my last job - working the front end, cart pushing and people greeting at Wal Mart. It's a good workout because they always seem to build Wal-Marts on top of hills.

We then sauntered back into the club to catch 12th Planet's set, which we enjoyed from a random balcony area at the end of some random ladder that we found inside the club. Like he always does, 12th dropped a slew of everyone's favorite, and up-to-date, Dubstep bangers including hits from the likes of Knife Party, Skrillex and Camo & Crooked, as well as a bunch of his own releases from the recent EP The End Is Near. When it was all said and done, the three of us exchanged some sweaty goodbye hugs and took off into opposite directions; their next stop being Wrongbar in Toronto, and mine at Stages in Kingston for Rusko. I couldn't have asked for a better way to spend my valentines day.
