The first ever IMS Engage, in partnership with W Hotels Worldwide, brought together industry professionals and musicians to discuss the opportunties for electronic dance music not only in the arts but also in industries like finance and technology. The event, which was hosted at the W Hollywood hotel featured six unmoderated conversations between leaders like Swedish House Mafia manager Amy Thomson, SFX's Shelly Finkel, and Billboard's editorial director Bill Werde and artists such as Diplo, Pete Tong, and Skrillex. Topics ranged from whether America is potentially hurting dance music, to the balance of social media as a promotional and credible tool. The discussions were varied and may have even got a little heated at times, but if anything was learned at IMS Engage, its that EDM is here to stay and the opportunities are endless.
