ihome presents identity festival detroit review
EDM fans came out in droves yesterday for Identity Festival's second stop in at Elektricity in Detroit, Michigan. Unlike the typical amphitheater style show, ID took over a club as well as the entire space out front for a unique block party-style event.
Outside, the Rockstar stage rocked in the early afternoon with Stephan Jacobs, Audrey Napoleon and The Eye. Showtek then hit the decks for an incredibly exciting set - setting an amazing mood for the rest of the event. The iHome Main Stage became more like the Club iHome, in which DVBBS and Le Castle Vania threw down for a wall-to-wall packed venue – in the early afternoon, no less.
As the sun started to drop in the sky and fans downed Rockstar Energy drinks to keep the party going, Arty and The Bingo Players hit the decks inside. Probably the most memorable moment of the day was watching a packed club bounce to the Bingo Players as they dropped the Fedde Le Grands classic "Put Your Hands up for Detroit" and showed the city some love. Madeon was up next with his disco-style house, while Excision hit the decks outside in his massive X structure. Following Excision's energetic set, Nero hit the decks to keep the bass coming, while Eric Prydz took stage inside Elektricity. A club set veteran, Prydz was masterful at handing this more intimate environment. Fans were in a trance as he took them on a journey through his own production over the last decade. At the end, he stuck around for a while to greet those who had waited almost four years for his return to the states. As Nero closed out the Rockstar stage, Detroit fans stuck around to attend various after-parties at the clubs lining the street that had earlier supported Identity.
