Locals groaned and headed online to refund their tickets when newbie festival I Love this City: San Francisco changed switched its location from the beautiful ATT Park home of the Giants to a much more mundane venue, Shoreline Amphitheatre in tech capital Mountain View.

The Live Nation and Skills produced festival kept its San Francisco skyline logo and carried on with the festivities Memorial Day weekend in Shoreline's amphitheater along with two other outdoor stages. To our surprise, the venue change did not discourage attendees too much. They came in flocks. decked out in everything from bikinis, to Burning Man attire, flooding the main stage hoping to score a ground floor spot. Above the jam packed floor of EDM lovers, Bay Area bottle service enthusiasts splurged for small separate booth areas to enjoy vodka bottles and state fair style snacks.

Friday's lineup was clearly the better of the two, boasting sets by Duck Sauce, Afrojack, AraabMuzik, and San Francisco local favorites Claude Von Stroke and Tenderlions. With some acts perfectly tailored for the dude-heavy crowd, brostep acts Borgore and Cookie Monsta prompted moshing at the bass stage.

In between dozens of fried food stands, a small stage drew a sizable crowd for circus performers and acrobats to perform. Other performers frolicked around the grounds EDC style including stilt-walkers, TRON costumed dancers, and more. Despite the typical rave-like amenities, no go-go girls were to be found, a step in the mature direction despite the festivals adjusted 16+ age limit.

Saturday's lineup seemed to be the more expensive and mainstream of the two with powerhouse DJs Tiesto and David Guetta, who both appeared carefree and relaxed. Both European DJs spent the majority of their sets with their hands in the air smiling at the crowd. Contrary to the hands free DJs, Felix Cartal appeared to be deep in thought on his laptop and controllers, playing to his small crowd of fans off in the parking lot stage. Euro bass droppers Feed Me and Doctor P convinced fans to ditch the mainstage to hear favorite tracks ranging from a remix of Robyn's "Call Your Girlfriend," to DJ Fresh's "Louder."

As midnight rolled around, party go-ers chugged the last of their 12 dollar beers and food truck fusion food and headed back to the cities they love. With the aesthetic and lineup of a better organized Identity Festival, we guess I Love this City will be back.
