Hashtag Selfie, Dubstep – Officially Part of the Dictionairy

Merriam-Webster has revealed 150 new words that will be added to its collegiate dictionary this year. [Full List Here]

1) Selfie

2) Dubstep

• Noun; A type of electronic dance music having prominent bass lines and syncopated drum patterns.
• Established in 2002. Made popular by acts like Rusko, Chase & Status, Skream, & most notably - Skrillex

3) Hashtag

• Noun;  A word or phrase preceded by the symbol # that clarifies or categorizes the accompanying text (such as a tweet).
• Established in 2008. Made popular by  Twitter & Instagram
• Hashtag Blessed

4) Hot Spot

• Noun;  a place where a wireless Internet connection is available.
• Ex: Somewhere that isn't a music festival

5) Auto-Tune

• Verb;  to adjust or alter (a recording of a voice) with Auto-Tune software or other audio-editing software esp. to correct sung notes that are out of tune
• Established in 2003: Made popular to this generation through acts like T-Pain, Kanye West, & Daft Punk.
