Elektro Party Recap: Steve Aoki’s Deadmeat Tour with Datsik in Boston

If you haven't heard, Steve Aoki and Datsik have been touring the country bringing crazy parties to every city this winter. I was able to catch up with the Deadmeat Tour at the Boston House of Blues and the Dim Mak crew did not disappoint.

Datsik adorned a small DJ booth bearing his name and got the house pumped up with great remixes and enthusiastic dubstep. The crowd went wild for his more progressive number, "Pick Your Poison," a collaboration with Diplo, as well as some of his collaborations with Excision, which he also played. Steve Aoki himself joined his tourmate on stage for a bit to help amp up the attendees.

After Datsik's set, the Dim Mak crew jumped on stage, handing out stickers, flyers, filming the crowd and getting everyone excited. As Steve Aoki manifested in the egg-shaped DJ booth flanked black sheets, he started playing his intro number "Steve Jobs," which got the whole room revved up.

Aoki entertained the crowd, playing his classics such as "Warp" and "I'm in The House," as the black sheets were removed to reveal gigantic LED letters spelling out, "AOKI." He jumped off the DJ booth countless times to come dance with the crowd, and wasn't shy about covering people in everything from champagne to birthday cake. It was a happy mess, if I ever saw one. At one point, Aoki appeared on the second level balcony with his cameraman and leaped off into a pit of fans holding up an inflatable pool (an Aoki staple).

The crowd with hit with tons of new songs off his recently released album, Wonderland. Some of the songs included his recent massive collaborations such as "No Beef" (with Afrojack), "Tornado" (with Tiesto) and "Turbulence" (with Laidback Luke). Aoki spent the end of his set crowd surfing (literally surfing on the aforementioned inflatable pool) and then hanging out in the mechanical booth to meet fans after his set.

The Deadmeat Tour still has a few stops left, if you get the chance, I strongly encourage you to go - this is not one to miss!
