Fool’s Gold Records Co-Founder Dust La Rock Dies at Age 38
Heavy hearts in the dance music world today after the sad news of Dust La Rock passing away at the age of 38. The cause of death is currently unknown. Dust La Rock (real name Joshua Prince) co-founded Fool's Gold Records alongside A-Trak and Nick Catchdubs in 2007, and would become the label's official art director from 2007-2012. Dust played an integral role in the development of the Fool's Gold image and brand.
Fool's Gold Records shared the above picture on Instagram, stating, "His singular talent and uncompromising vision set a foundation for our label as a beacon for artists. He will be missed dearly by the Fool’s Gold family and the creative community at large."
Many artists expressed their grief on social media, including A-Trak. "Lost one of my dearest friends today," he wrote. "You helped define so much of what I stand for. Love you man. Still can't believe this." Fellow Fool's Gold co-found Nick Catchdubs also wrote on Instagram, " No matter what Dust La Rock, you changed our lives, which is the greatest compliment I could ever pay an artist."
