Today’s industry has been sporting a lot of unique artist collaborations, but none more unique than Daft Punk going into the studio with EDM Godfather Giorgio Moroder.

If you don’t know who Giorgio Moroder is, then take off your headphones and sit down for a lesson in dance music history. Not only did the Italian producer revolutionize the EDM movement with the recently passed Donna Summer’s 1977 hit “I Feel Love,” but kept club floors filled with smashes like Blondie’s “Call Me,” Irene Cara’s “What A Feeling,” and Berlin’s “Take My Breath Away.” So yeah, he’s kind of a big deal.

Giorgio will be contributing a rap of sorts to Daft Punk’s unique sound. URB reports the following:

“During a one-on-one interview at International Music in Ibiza, the producer behind genre-defining songs such as ‘I Feel Love’ and ‘The Chase’ revealed that he recently when into the studio with the French duo.

The robots asked the Munich Machine to go into a vocal booth and speak about his like. In the studio were multiple microphones of various vintages from the 60’s to today. When Moroder asked the engineer why they had so many mics, he replied that the mic they would use would depend on what decade of his life he was speaking about. When Moroder asked if anyone would know the difference, the engineer replied, ‘They will know.’”

Wow, that sounds deep. Personally can’t wait to hear the finished result – wonder if we’ll be able to tell which mic they used.
