Cypress Hill X Rusko EP Review

It was inevitable that these two forces would eventually come together, given their affinity for a particular leafy plant. With much anticipation, Cypress Hill and Rusko join forces to mash up t the old school with the new, combining Rusko’s dubstep with the signature stoner-hop flair of Cypress Hill. Announced that they would be collaborating back in January, the EP is finally here in its full form.

“Lez Go” starts off with a minimalistic extra terrestrial trance sound and then Rusko drops a heavy bomb full of bass when Cypress Hill starts spitting their verses that mend together with Rusko’s heavy sound in a surprisingly effortless way. “We came here to get you high” boasts Cypress Hill on the second track “Roll It, Light It”.

The Damian Marley featured track, “Can’t Keep Me Down”, focuses more on Cypress Hill’s lyrical abilities with a nice reggae beat mixed with dub to create a chill track to relax to. Cypress X Rusko ends on a high note (no pun intended), with a fast paced dance track that is sure to fill up the dance floors everywhere.

This EP would definitely be cool to see performed live. I think it even calls for a Rusko/Cypress Hill tour. The EP is set to be released on vinyl June 17th. If you would like to check out the Cypress X Rusko EP, you can stream it here.
