Its his seamless blend of beat-heavy stripped back sounds and shifts into melodic tracks that make his long-awaited third album, Out of the Black, a shining example of electronic diversity. Although the sound changes throughout the album from very dark to more upbeat, that classic electronica grit is present throughout the entire album. “Ich R U” and “Rocky 2” bring a Daft Punk vibe with a darker Transformer’s style twist. At the same time, tracks like “Circus Full of Clowns” featuring Grizzle take listeners into a hazy trap dream world and add refreshing variety to the album. “Conchord” is one of the more 80s sounding numbers in the collection, with retro melodies and classic video game style synth-work. “Touch It” has a slowed-down deep house beat you might hear at a Pelvic Thrust party in Miami’s indie-electro hangout, the Electric Pickle. Take a listen to the atmospheric “Reality” and you’ll be immersed in a web of melodies, hazy vocals, and unexpected sounds. Overall, we give this album thumbs up for its musical variety and success bringing us tracks that are different but absolutely genius.
