To become a self-starter DJ, a large investment of cash is essential for purchasing gear, software and tools, which can put you into some serios credit card debt. Worry no more! Thanks to these readily available IKEA parts you can assemble a DJ booth without breaking the bank. Costs range from $125 to $250 for a fully tricked out model. Since IKEA is a notorious Swedish furniture brand and Swedish House Madia is going to "save the world," they should definitely link up! Now they can.

And so can you... here’s what you need (besides the DJ'ing skills-- that part is on you, future mix masters!):

1. Either 1 or 2 EXPEDIT bookcases ($70 ea): These will consist of the desk. The number of bookcases use depends on how deep you want it to be (if you only use one you can’t use turntables in battle position). Also a great solution to where you can store your vinyl collection.

2. Four straight CAPITA legs ($10-$14/4 pack): Recommended to add height to the desk (the bookcases are only 31” high). It is important that your body is erect and the shoulders back when using your equipment – if you need to bend down to use the equipment you may end up like the Hunchback of Notre Dame. If the desk it too high, you may suffer from shoulder and neck pain. Luckily, the CAPITA legs are available in three heights.

3. VIKA AMON tabletop ($20): Place on top of the desk using angular CAPITA legs ($16/2 pack) as another way to add some height

4. BJARNUM-hook ($5): A nice addition to mount on the side table to hold your headphones. (Also available in a foldable version for $10/three pack)

5. LACK wall-shelf ($20): Install on the top of your desk with CAPITA legs in order to make room for the laptop or CD players so that they are clear from the turntables and mixer.

6. GODMORGON legs ($8-$10): Attach your speakers with these adjustable legs to your desk so that they are aligned to your ears.

7. DIODER lights ($40): These multi-color LED strips are perfect to helping you see in the dark a little better, plus they give your booth a little edge.

Total Costs:

2 x EXPEDIT bookcases = $140
2 x straight CAPITA legs 6” = $24
1 x VIKA AMON tabletop = $20
1 x BJARNUM hook = $5
1 x LACK wall-shelf = $20
2 x GODMORGAN leg = $20

TOTAL = $229
