It’s hard to argue that Zedd hasn’t had the best 2013, between 3 of his hit songs crossing over to mainstream pop radio (Spectrum, Clarity, and Stay The Night), to playing sold-out shows around the world. So to cap off his whirlwind year, Zedd rounded up some fellow musicians to strip-down his songs for an acoustic iTunes Sessions EP. Re-recording five of his songs off his “Clarity” album (Spectrum, Clarity, Stay The Night, Push Play, and Hourglass), as well as covering Adele’s “Set Fire To The Rain”, Zedd shows in creating these compositions that he is just as comfortable making songs using real instruments as he is with his computer. More than any other artist in the scene, Zedd focuses on creating whole songs and not just beats, and this EP is proof of that, as the songs retain their beauty and power to move you, even when removing all of the EDM staples from the music. The iTunes Sessions EP showcases how strong Zedd’s songwriting skills are, and proves that he will be a force to be reckoned with no matter what musical genre he tackles.
