You know how you’ve always thought something was missing from your ice cream, but you couldn’t quite pinpoint what it was? Turns out it was the lack of florescent coloring in your scoops – that is if you’re a die-hard electronic music lover. The Huffington Post tells us about Lick Me Delicious, an U.K. gourmet ice cream shop that took it upon itself to commission an ice cream that glows in the dark after you lick it. As the video below will tell you, a Chinese scientist isolated the fluorescent proteins from jellyfish and put them in the ice cream. The tongue’s pH levels interact with that protein to illuminate the ice cream brighter as you lick more.
You can’t make this stuff up.
Creating the perfect post-raving snack seems to be no cheap process either. A single scoop will run you $225, not including the necessary flight across the pond. Check out Lick Me Delicious’ site for more info and for those worried about any radiation-related mutations, don’t sweat it. Charlie Francis, the shop’s founder, promises that he’s tried some and isn’t “glowing anywhere”. That’s all the proof we need.
