With an annual rise in attendance since its founding in 1999, the Ultra Music Festival has become one of the top authorities in the electronic dance movement, recently releasing its top seven artists under 25. Of course, there’s the obvious, including Skrillex (24) and Avicii (22), but check out the other five contenders who made it big before being old enough to rent a car:

Avicii

The popular Swedish producer has become the man behind one of house music’s biggest anthems in years. Working with giants like John Dahlback and David Ghetta, he has played festival stages from Pacha to EDC in LA, and he’ll be headlining Saturday at this year’s UMF.

Skrillex

Starting out as the lead singer of a hardcore rock band, he traded his vocals for turntables and came out on top. Armed with three Grammys, Skrillex has changed the EDM scene forever mixing the raw melodies of metal into dubstep beats.

Porter Robinson

At 19, he has toured the world with Deadmau5 and Diplo while most kids are starting their freshman year of college. He’s even done remixes for Lady Gaga and fellow youth Avicii.

Zedd

The German producer may only be 22, but he possesses a resume and fan base that would make any aspiring DJ green with envy. Landing a contract with OWSLA, he’s put his own personal touch on remixes for everyone from Fatboy Slim to Wolfgang Gartner to the Black Eyed Peas.

Borgore

With just 24 years behind him, Borgore has been seen as one of EDM’s youngest pioneers. His unique blend of hip-hop, gnarly dubstep and lyrical chauvinism has made him quite popular with the kids, who can catch him live this Saturday at Ultra.

Hardwell

He started his career at the age of 13, and has since signed to a Dutch label and ranked #26 on DJ Magazine’s top 100 list. MTV has even named him one their EDM artists to watch for in 2012.

Madeon

This French wunderkind is the youngest on the list. He’s only 17, but he’s set the underground on fire with his mash-up “Pop Culture.” It seems that everything this kid does is well beyond a few years of experience. Of course he’s earned himself a spot on this Saturday’s lineup at Ultra.
