Well, it's finally happening. After rumors begun over a year ago that Simon Cowell (famous for serving as a judge on shows like American Idol, the X Factor and Britain's Got Talent) would be hosting a DJ competition show, it seemed as if its possibility was just going to fade away. However, it seems the show is finally going to come to fuition. Alas, we have 'Ultimate DJ,' produced by Cowell's own Syco Entertainment, which will be streaming via Yahoo Live (Yahoo's new streaming service). Simon Cowell stated on his Twitter, "The show is intended to showcase the incredible talent that electronic music has shown the world. It will be made with respect."

Amongst the other producers of the show are Ultra Records President Patrick Moxey. Due to Ultra Records' involvement with the show, The winner of the competition will win a record deal with the label and Sony Music, as well as earn a spot on the bill of a major music festival. Given Ultra's hand in the production of the show, it is quite possible the winner will receive a spot on the Ultra Music Festival lineup. However, it is merely speculation at this point.

According to Mixmag, Yahoo's chief marketing officer Kathy Savitt says, "Ultimate DJ will be very much like the World Cup of EDM - country against country, DJ against DJ, fanbase against fanbase. And with all the voting happening on Tumblr, it's yet another example of the growing convergence and synergies we are finding between the two platforms."

In anticipation of the show, one of the guest judges has been announced — Steve Aoki. Stay tuned for more information on the show to come soon.
