One of New York City’s favorite exports, Roger Sanchez, is back with the first single off his forthcoming album Roots. “Troubleman," featuring GTO, is a sleek and sexy track that would fit perfectly in an afterhours set that doesn’t believe in quitting or in rules. The song walks the wonderfully thin line between big room anthem and dark room mystique thanks to the perfectly executed combination of the track’s enveloping beats and it’s sultry vocals. The blues-meets-dance release makes for an exhilarating combination of past and present to gives us a peep into the future of dance. This mash-up of generational elements is exemplified perfectly in Sanchez’s politically-minded visual companion to the track. The video features riots, police brutality, along with troublemaking dictators and their explosive downfalls. The accompanying remix, courtesy of DJ Sneak, takes a slightly more subtle approach, adding quirky elements to the base track in order to stay much closer and true to the original. After already commanding Beatport’s Top 10, “Troublemaker” is now out iTunes. Make sure to pick your copy here make sure to grab copies of the tracks on Beatport here if you haven’t already!
