Rather than targeting the mainstream audience of services such as Spotify, Pulselocker is a music streaming and subscription service targeting a niche group, the DJ. Currently, DJs either download music, paying per track (Beatport) or pirating. Pulselocker allows DJs to download music to the user’s computer for offline use; protection prohibits the user from accessing the music, but this music is accessible via certified software - Traktor and Serato among others.

The service starts at $10/month for 10 tracks in the aforementioned folder. For $70/month, the tracks jump to 1,000. Users free up space in the quota by purchasing tracks they particularly like and want to keep. Pulselocker also offers a variety of options for artists and labels to earn royalty - every time a track is streamed, stored in the holder, or purchased.
