We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again: ODESZA are on fire. After their sophomore release, In Return, last September and their NO.SLEEP mix series, showcasing their knowledge of who and what’s next, the boys have proven themselves as important contenders in our beloved industry especially in the upcoming festival season. Slated to headline seemingly every festival, including BUKU Music & Art Project, SXSW, Ultra, Coachella, Sasquatch, CRSSD, Governers Ball, Bonnaroo, Electric Forest, Firefly and countless others both in the states and overseas – 2015 is indeed the year of Harrison Mills and Clayton Knight (aka ODESZA).

Thus, it has come with no surprise that the boys had something even bigger in the works for fans and other artists alike. Yesterday, ODESZA officially announced the launch of their project, Foreign Family Collective. The platform will serve as a forum for like-minded individuals in music, graphic design and other creative fields. With the release came a YouTube and Soundcloud page, as well as the first record release on Foreign Family Collective, “Fiend” produced by Troy Samuela and Monsoonsiren. Note the “FFC001” marker on the tracks cover art.

The two artists featured on the track were also no surprise to fans as the two names have already been buzzing through ODESZA's airwaves. Troy recently mixed one of the boy’s tracks to perfection, while Monsoonsiren was featured on the beauty that is “Memories That You Call” from In Return. “Troy Samuela and Monsoonsiren are an unusual pairing for a track which is why this one is so unique,” ODESZA explains. “Troy Samuela’s synth work and heavy hip-hop influence blend with Monsoonsiren’s hauntingly beautiful airy vocals in a way that compliment each other in an unexpected way.”

What’s clear is that Foreign Family Collective will follow the unique tone and expression that has made ODESZA so popular in current EDM culture. Just as Mad Decent followed Diplo’s sound, and Fool’s Gold followed A-Trak’s – ODESZA has created a beautifully designed subculture that will undoubtedly gain popularity in the coming months, if not weeks. We look forward to upcoming unique and dreamy sounds from the collective, the next one coming from rising talent Big Wild – and a season that is without a doubt, entirely ODESZA’s.
