Muzzy Bearr, who began his career as the live guitarist for future funk leader GRiZ, just released his debut EP, Vintage Sutra. Given his ties to the fellow Detroit-based producer, it is only appropriate that this monumental release comes via GRiZ's label, All Good Records. As you may have expected, the EP comes with the kind of electronic soul/funk tunes that fit comfortably in the catalogue of releases from the GRiZ-fronted imprint. While throwing in elements of future bass, hip-hop and juke, Muzzy Bearr has crafted a debut release that is entirely unique.

Featured on the EP is a collaboration with GRiZ titled "Bougie," that is sure to resonate with any fan of the electronic funk scene. Complete with the unmistakable sax work of GRiZ, it is a smooth heater that marks one of the EP's highlights. Also featured on the six-track release are a variety of fellow funk scenesters, including Exmag & Branx, brass extraordinaire Benny Bloom (who has provided the brass-work for Shady Horns, Lettuce and Pretty Lights). The release’s opening track “Suede” also features Detroit rapper Denmark Vessey, rounding out an impressive collection of collaborations.

Like all of the music that comes via All Good Records, this EP is available for free download. Make sure to grab it here, and get acquainted with the freshest face of the electro-funk scene.
