Desert Hearts label boss and festival visionary Mikey Lion is back with another selection of dust ridden anthems, this time with some help from fellow San Diego native Bengal. ‘The Big Cats’ EP continues the Desert Hearts Records legacy of massive releases aimed at controlling dancefloors from the wooded festivals of SoCal to the top nightclubs of Ibiza.

The release is a perfectly sculpted exposé of the sonic journeys that can be witnessed at the Desert Hearts Festival. From the tech infused percussive gold of ‘Like That’ to the stomping House grooves of ‘Big Cats Groove’ the EP channels the sunrise vibes and all night dance parties the imprint and events have become known for.

All the tunes will no doubt be showcased at the upcoming Desert Hearts Three Year Anniversary November 5-9 featuring the likes of Claude VonStroke, Andreas Henneberg, J.Phlip, Doc Martin, Olivier Giaccomotto, SABO and many more industry leading acts.

In Mikey’s own word’s on the release, "I first discovered Bengal back in 2011 when he was producing tracks for Steve Lawler's label VIVa MUSiC under the alias BNZO. When I found out he was a fellow San Diego native, I was blown away and knew we had to get in the studio together. Almost 5 years later but just in time for our Desert Hearts 3 Year Anniversary Festival, we're proud to give you our first release together appropriately titled The Big Cats EP."

Led by Mikey Lion, Desert Hearts is a collaboration between San Diego based DJs Lee Reynolds, Marbs, and Lion's younger brother, Porkchop, along with the creative mind of Christopher Kristoff. The crew has travelled throughout California’s deserts, moving through mountainous peaks to untapped Indian reservations -- the boys are always searching out unique landscapes that inspire. This mantra also pervades their label showcases, which have completely transformed warehouses and venues across the state.

July 2014 saw the founding of the free Desert Hearts Records imprint, a continuation of the ethos of the festival and roaming City Hearts parties.
